News: UN makes COP 18 related climate change news available in Arabic

Beirut, November 23 (United Nations Information Centre)—The Humanitarian News and Analysis Service of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (IRIN) has launched a new page on its website containing all climate change-related articles and stories in Arabic. The Arabic Climate change stories are available at the following link at www.irinnews.org which will be updated with stories on the COP 18 from Doha.

Since the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) entered into force in 1994, the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC has been meeting annually to assess progress in dealing with climate change. The COP is the ‘supreme body’ of the Convention, its highest decision-making authority. The COP is an association of all the countries that are Parties to the Convention.

The 2012 UN Climate Change Conference will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha, Qatar, from November 26 to December 7, 2012.
